A tiny life-enhancement: Tear-by-hand packaging tape

23 July 2020 | Comments [2] »

I’ve been sending a number of packages these days—knitted gifts and so forth. And I’ve been so grateful for one little product I thought I’d sing its praises here. It’s Scotch Tear by Hand Packaging Tape. It’s clear shipping tape, just under two inches wide, and you can tear it by hand.

Just launched: Insider's Guides for New Organizers

28 August 2017 | Comments [0] »

In 2014, I added a guide to the collection aimed at helping people who want to start an organizing business. The most widely read post on this blog is my post on becoming a professional organizer. (Watch for a new update to that post soon!) I wrote that guide to help provide more in-depth information for new or aspiring organizers.

Yesterday, I added two more guides for new organizers and renamed the series the Insider’s Guides for New Organizers. Currently there are three available:

Worth repeating: Getting past internal barriers

9 April 2015 | Comments [0] »

I originally wrote and published this post in February 2011. I’m happy to say that my internal barriers to doing Quickbooks have pretty much vanished, though I still have some trouble making it a priority. (But at least I don’t dread it.) Perhaps you have some internal barriers that are getting in your way. If so, I hope you’ll find this helpful.

Special sale on my Organizing Guides!

1 March 2013 | Comments [0] »

I recently had the immense pleasure of working with Alexandra Franzen, an outrageously imaginative and intuitive marketing writer, in one of her Velocity Sessions. One of things I asked her to help me with was the titles and descriptions of my Organizing Guides, the series of concise downloadable PDFs I wrote and introduced in 2010.

New Organizing Guide (about bingo!) now available

28 September 2011 | Comments [1] »

I am so enthusiastic about the concept of To-Do List Bingo that I created an Organizing Guide, called Making Tasks Fun with To-Do List Bingo about it. It expands on the blog post I wrote about the bingo concept when I first tried it. Included in the the guide are more about the concept, more detailed instructions on how to create a board, the types of tasks that are great for To-Do List Bingo and the rules I’ve set up for my own personal bingo playing.

What challenges does the postman bring?

2 May 2011 | Comments [0] »

I love helping people with their mail. It can be such a challenge for so many that I created an e-course, Make Peace with Your Mail about it. At only $59, I think the e-course is a bargain. But you can get one for free (and get a one-hour phone consult with me for some personalized advice on your mail situation) through my contest.

Getting past internal barriers

2 February 2011 | Comments [0] »

This the year that I’m all about creating new habits and routines. (At least so far.) In the past two months I’ve created strong habits surrounding cleaning up my yard and keeping the bedroom bureau top clear of clothing. I’ve also whittled my email inbox down to zero every day since January 2. (I’ll blog more about that another day.)

How are those resolutions coming along?

10 January 2011 | Comments [1] »

It’s funny how the turn of the calendar page to a new year makes people want to change their ways and resolve to behave differently. It’s certainly true of me. While I haven’t set any resolutions, per se, I do set goals and I do try to create new habits.

How's your relationship with the mail?

17 August 2010 | Comments [0] »

I’m usually excited when the mail comes. Don’t ask me why; gone are the days of surprise letters or cards from people. And that’s okay, I love email. But I always scurry to the door when the mail arrives.

New packages!

1 December 2009 | Comments [0] »

I’ve changed the way I offer my pricing for my organizing services and I’m really excited about it. Starting today, I’m offering packages that are geared to different situations and include helpful additional products. In the past, I’ve charged a flat fee for my initial assessment and charged by the hour for everything else.
