Keeping up with the snail mail is a challenge for a lot of my client. Sometimes it goes unopened for days or weeks. I had a couple of experiences this week that made me grateful that I make a habit of opening the mail every day. (For some reason, I’ve always loved opening mail, so it’s not a hardship.)

In June, I wrote about DailyFeats an interactive website that helps you build daily habits. In a nutshell, you select habits you want to create, check in daily and receive points doing what you say you’ll do. Points are redeemable for gift cards, charitable donations, and deals.

I love working one-on-one with clients (or supervising a team of organizers to help a client) and we get great results. But sometimes budgetary or geographic constraints make that impossible.
That’s why I’m glad to bring up some opportunities for ways you can tap into my expertise even if you’re on a budget or you don’t live in St. Louis.

I’ve been thinking about mail a lot, because of the Make Peace with Your Mail contest, which ended last week. As I read the entries in order to determine the winners (whose entries you can read here), a theme emerged.

I love helping people with their mail. It can be such a challenge for so many that I created an e-course, Make Peace with Your Mail about it. At only $59, I think the e-course is a bargain. But you can get one for free (and get a one-hour phone consult with me for some personalized advice on your mail situation) through my contest.

Lately, I’ve been taking a moment to unsubscribe from promotional emails I receive on a regular basis that I usually delete. Just a moment ago, I unsubscribed from promo emails from a major electronics retailer. When I thought about the last couple of times I shopped there, it was when I had something specific in mind. It had nothing to do with these promotional emails, which come almost on a daily basis.

I’m usually excited when the mail comes. Don’t ask me why; gone are the days of surprise letters or cards from people. And that’s okay, I love email. But I always scurry to the door when the mail arrives.

Why do some people put off dealing with their mail? I think it’s because scary stuff can be lurking in there. And the longer it sits the scarier it becomes.

A couple of weeks ago, I put together a poll on how folks deal with the daily onslaught of postal mail. The results are in and I think they’re kind of interesting.

Dealing the mail that comes to the house can be a huge hassle for many people. Most of my clients have difficulty dealing with it and I know I’ve let it pile up in the past. I’m thinking of developing some sort of product to help people with their mail and I’m curious how my blog readers handle their mail.

I publish a free newsletter that comes out on the 15th of every month. I’m working on the next issue now. In the past week, I’ve added a bonus for those who subscribe to the newsletter. It’s a short pdf I’ve written on handling your mail, called How to Fall In Love with the Mail Carrier All Over Again.
