I used a bingo card for a few days last week and then realized that the strategy wasn’t going to be effective for my particular downsizing project.

In an effort to make downsizing as fun as possible, I’m going to start the decluttering process with a bingo board. At Bingo Baker I was able to generate bingo cards that are randomized. I created 30 areas/projects and Bingo Baker randomized them to include 25 on a bingo card.

I made the switch from paper to electronic task management many years ago. As I blogged about last year, I created a Daily Task Management Trello board that was working really for me. But then I started creeping back toward paper and pen

Back in 2011, I created a Bingo board to hep me get non-urgent tasks done on a regular basis. I blogged about it four or five times and today have selected one of the most useful of those posts to repeat to spread the word about the value of building fun into your task list.

I’m a bit obsessed with trying to find a great way to stay on top of my tasks. I find that when I’m a task-management groove, life is good. But when a system stops working for me and I get into task-management limbo, I feel out of control and tense.

I know that somewhere around here I have a list—actually I think it’s more than one list—of potential blog post subjects. Last year, I created a bingo board that turned out to be a powerful motivator for me to accomplish tasks that are important to do regularly, but aren’t urgent (so weren’t getting done regularly). For me, that’s stuff like social media posts, blogging, following up with clients, past and present, tending to my website, stuff like that. You might have an entirely different set of tasks you want to accomplish regularly.

I wouldn’t be writing this (or any) blog post today if it weren’t for To-Do List Bingo. At the end of the day today, I took a look at my bingo board and covered the tasks that I had already done.

I am so enthusiastic about the concept of To-Do List Bingo that I created an Organizing Guide, called Making Tasks Fun with To-Do List Bingo about it. It expands on the blog post I wrote about the bingo concept when I first tried it. Included in the the guide are more about the concept, more detailed instructions on how to create a board, the types of tasks that are great for To-Do List Bingo and the rules I’ve set up for my own personal bingo playing.
I wrote almost a month ago about how much I love the concept of using a bingo card to motivate me to do tasks that are important to do regularly but don’t have deadlines.

When I saw Jacquelyn Kittredge’s e-bakery blog post about her social media bingo card I got really excited. I love the idea of turning those “I should” daily tasks (like keeping up with your social media) into a fun game.
