Up until a few years ago, traveling with jewelry wasn’t much of an issue for me. I had a few pairs of earrings and a tiny (2” by 3”) little oriental cloth zipper case I put them in when I traveled. Then I met Geralin Thomas who, among her many talents, is a wardrobe consultant. She’s helped me up my game in terms of clothing and especially in terms of accessories.
So now when I travel, particularly when I travel somewhere where I’ll see Geralin (like the NAPO or ICD conferences), I bring loads of jewelry. When I saw Geralin in March, she frowned at the tangled mess of necklaces I pulled out of a jewelry roll. I don’t think she felt I was respecting them properly—and she was right.
So I was really pleased when the folks at Clos-ett Too reached out to me asking if I’d like to review one of their products and do a giveaway. I perused their website and their Travel Jewelry Case jumped right out at me.
When closed, it resembles a zippered binder. In fact, it has about the same dimensions as a standard 1” three-ring binder. But it’s soft—It appears to be made of a vinyl-covered linen. Inside are two-sided “pages” lined in faux suede and covered in zippered vinyl to create compartments. (The exceptions: the ring holder isn’t covered in vinyl and the necklace has a zip-open vinyl cover.) You can travel light with just one page or bring a few. When inside the binder, they snap together.
There are storage areas for necklaces, earrings, rings, and multipurpose 4 × 4” compartments. You can buy additional pages equipped with the compartments you need, making it very versatile.
I haven’t traveled since receiving the case, but I loaded it up with the usual jewelry I travel with. I can see it has several advantages over the jewelry roll I was using:
This case is so convenient that I could see permanently storing the jewelry in pages and storing the pages in a drawer, if I had a drawer to spare. (As it is, I’ll continue using the dresser-top storage solutions I’ve worked out.)
The photos I took of my jewelry in the case look pretty unprofessional. (I need to get some sort of lighting set up to elevate the quality of my blog photos.) So I’m going to ask you to be satisfied with the above photo and the ones on their website.
Here’s the exciting part: Clos-ette Too is giving away a pink Travel Jewelry Case to one lucky blog reader! To enter, simply make a comment on this blog post. You can receive an additional entry by tweeting about the giveaway. (Be sure and use @janinea in the tweet, so that I will see it.) You can receive another giveaway entry by writing on the wall or commenting at the Peace of Mind Organizing Facebook page. The contest ends at noon, central time, on Wednesday, May 30. The winner will be notified on Thursday, May 31 and I’ll announce the winner here on the blog that day as well.

I love this travel jewelry case-especially because it’s easy to see. My jewelry case now I have to dig for each necklace and bracelet and worry about tangles… I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a win :) :)

Oh my! I could ABSOLUTELY use this beautiful case! Just this morning I was grumbling as I was untangling a necklace…yet again…and trying to find the match for an earring…yet again. Thanks for the opportunity!

Ooooh! I’m always looking for the perfect solution to traveling with jewelry, and this might be it! I think the “pages” are a great concept!

This looks like a great way to organize my jewelry without taking up too much space. I tend to try and only take one bag, even for long trips.

This looks perfect for travel. I would love to have it especially since we are planning a lengthy trip this year. I’m also looking for one for toiletries. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Been dying to try this ever since I interviewed Melanie on my site!! Thanks so much for the chance to win!

Tweeted about it as well!

I would love to have this for travel – or for storage. Having just returned from a cross-country trip for a family reunion, and having issues with the way my jewelry traveled (and I left one earring at the home of a dear aunt), this would be a welcome addition to my travel pieces.
I have left a comment on Facebook, too.

This looks like a great solution—would love to add it to my travel organization tools!
Deborah May 29, 2012 08:56 AM
Looks good Janine — I’m doing an article on getting and staying organized on the road, and this fits in nicely (along with the Eagle packs I love from Container Store). Especially like the fact that it doesn’t look like a “jewelry box”.

I love organization and especially when it involves little pockets!
Sarah B. May 29, 2012 09:13 AM
What a great idea. I love that it keeps necklaces untangled, has different sized pockets and makes your jewelry so visible.
Nancy May 29, 2012 09:27 AM
This would be fabulous for me and such a needed accessory!

Ooh! I can’t wait to travel with this Closette travel jewelry case!!

I have tons of jewelry that often gets destroyed in travel so this would be an amazing way to protect them

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry either, and when I travel, I tend to choose pieces that will go with as many outfits as possible to minimize what I have take with me. This product would not only make it easier to take a bigger assortment, but might even encourage me to do so! Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for your giveaway, but I’m still pleased to learn about this cool product – and to learn that Geralin is a wardrobe consultant. How did I not know that? :)
Janet Barclay May 31, 2012 12:37 PM
Thanks for all the entries! The winner was Deborah. Congrats, Deborah!
Janet, it’s not too surprising to learn that Geralin does wardrobe consulting, considering how fab she always looks, is it? She and Scott Roewer did a wonderful pre-conference session on wardrobing at this year’s NAPO conference.

This product is poorly made and too large. The customer service is terrible as well.

I too have been looking for a tidy way to store & travel with my jewelry. I designed a similar binder and was looking for a way to market it or find out if someone had beaten me to the punch. Sad for me – but this looks great. I would love to add a couple of ideas – But mostly I WANT ONE how do I get one @janinea?
Cheryl Bean March 5, 2013 09:52 AM
Cheryl, you can get one by clicking on the link for the product just above the picture. Sorry to hear that you’ve been beaten to the punch, but I guess the good news is that you can buy one without having to make it yourself!

This is a great way to organize your jewelry especially with sections that can be added or taken out. I love it. I love wearing my jewelry on vacation but want it not to be a tangled up mess. I travel with a Sweet Adeline Chorus and we all travel a lot for competition and we love our jewlery. Thank you so much. Love to be the lucky winner of one.
Judy Kuhl April 2, 2013 12:48 PM
I like this. Thanks a lot
Hatchet April 4, 2013 07:51 AM
Its good to own one :) Most of us here are grateful for this is truly a nice way to organize your jewels, precious jewels to prevent them from losing especially the earrings and rings. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
Expensive jewelry May 7, 2013 09:54 PM
Oh! This is beautiful!! I love your idea of storing some jewelry permanently. This would be perfect for that too! I could put my expensive jewelry in and tuck it away somewhere in my house securely and know that my jewelry is hidden.
