On Facebook, I frequently see photos with captions right on the picture and I wonder how the caption got there. (I also wonder how people upload clips of TV shows onto You Tube, but that’s another question.)

App of the Week: IMDB

24 August 2012 | Comments [0] »

I consider myself a bit of a movie/TV show savant. As bad as my short-term memory is getting as I age, I’m still hanging on to information about movies and shows and the actors who appear in them.

App of the week: Maps

3 August 2012 | Comments [2] »

I used to carry around a GPS. And I would always mute it, because I found the voice disruptive. Mostly I just wanted to know how long it was going to take me to get to my destination.

In the past, I’d have to find my camera, take the picture, then plug my camera into my computer, import the photo into iPhoto and go from there.

I blogged about the mileage-tracking app Milebug last year, after I realized how much time it was saving me on my taxes. Back then, I was using it on my iPod Touch.

App of the week: SleepCycle

25 May 2012 | Comments [1] »

When I was at the NAPO conference in March, one of the keynote speakers, Joanne Lichten, Ph.D., RD, aka Dr. Jo®, recommended an app called SleepCycle. She was talking about the importance of good sleeping habits for good health and self care. I had my iPhone with me, so I downloaded it on the spot, during the talk. (The app costs 99 cents.)

App of the week: Siri

18 May 2012 | Comments [4] »

I love Siri, the intelligent voice-recognition software on my iPhone 4S, but I understand that not everyone does. It gets frustrating when Siri doesn’t understand you and you to repeat yourself. Luckily for me, I don’t often have that problem. Siri understands me better than most people do.

I’m still in the honeymoon phase of my relationship with my iPhone 4S. (I hope it never ends!) A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about why I love my iPhone.
